Lash Lift or Lash Extensions: 7 Steps To Help You Decide!

One of the most frequently asked question by all is Lash Lift or Lash Extensions? It is time for an answer. And our answer is... it depends!

Hold on, I'm not taking the easy way out! Everyone thinks that it's just two different lash services with similar results. Yes, but at the same time, not really. The question you should be asking yourself is "Why do I want to get a Lash Lift or Lash Extensions done?"

Hear me out, before you jump up and answer upon your first instinct, we need to delve deeper into both lash services for you to get a better understanding of them. So here at Bang on Brows, we have put together 7 steps in helping you decide - Lash Lift or Lash Extensions.

1. The Process

The very first step in deciding between these two lash enhancements is to understand the ins-and-outs of the processes and how they differ! Lash Lift is a perm for your lashes simply to put - al natural. Each individual lash gets lifted and curled, from root to tip. This would be your holy grail if you have crisscrossing, twisted or straight lashes that just can't seem to get that extra oomph!

Lash Extensions on the other hand is applying faux lashes curl-by-curl on your own lashes with a gentle glue to add three things: volume, length and thickness. For all you people with sparse lashes, this is for you!

We recommend understanding the type of lashes you have and to go for the lash service best suited for you.

2. Volume

With Lash Lift, the final volume and density achieved is highly dependently on the thickness of your existing natural lashes. Whereas with Lash Extensions, you can play up the volume as subtly or as dramatically as you like. The latest lash trend from Europe is Botox Lash Lifts (no injectables, I promise!). To drastically improve the volume of your lashes, Botox Lash Lifts are a great option for most people.

3. Upkeep

Lash Extensions need a bit more TLC compared to Lash Lifts. Recommended maintenance appointments for a Lash Lift would be at the 6 to 8 weeks mark. This stretches out even longer with Botox Lash Lifts, going up to 8 to 10 weeks. Pst, it's provided if you follow the aftercare instructions!

During the 6 to 8 weeks, we have two simple tips:

- Brush your lashes 3 to 4 times a day.

- Clean them with a good lash shampoo (we recommend Bang on Brow and Lash Shampoo).

Recommended Lash Extensions maintenance appointments would be every 2 to 4 weeks, dependent on your lash cycle. Just like Lash Lift, they would need a good and careful everyday cleaning with a good lash shampoo.

4. Customisation

Both are easily customised! During a Lash Lift appointment, you can choose the degree of the curl as well as the direction of the curl - fanned out or straight up, all in accordance with personal preferences. As mentioned in Step 2, you can choose from various density, length, weight and thickness.

5. Time

A typical Lash Lift appointment can take around 35 to 45 minutes. For the Botox Lash Lift, it can go up to 60 minutes. Lash Extensions, however, can take from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours depending on the type of extensions you are getting.

6. Price

Both lash services would be pricier than your trusty tube of mascara, but a Lash Lift comes at a friendlier rate as compared to Lash Extensions. If you're after more bang for your buck, Botox Lash Lift will last the longest with a small increase in price. It is important to know that with every Lash Lift appointment, we provide a complimentary Lash Tint at all our Bang on Brows locations.

7. The Artist

Last, but not least, regardless of the service you decide to go for. Do remember that a qualified and experienced lash specialist is going to make the biggest difference in your results.

At Bang on Brows believe in helping our clients make an informed decision when the time comes for you to choose a beauty service. If you have any questions about our lash services, feel free to give us a call or leave a comment below.
